Sending values from Acrobat to VB Script

Hello,

I am relatively new to VBA but I need some assistance to interact with Acrobat. In acrobat I have generated a string that I would like to pass into my VBA script. How do i set up my VBA script such that it keeps looking for that string to be received and then once received I will run it through a function and pass the result back into Acrobat. If you can redirect me to some documentation about this that would be greatly appreciated.
